Installing Budgeture

Budgeture is currently in external TestFlight while we polish for the App Store. Join the TestFlight to install it on your devices.

Common questions

How do I sync between devices?

Turn on iCloud for Budgeture in your device's Settings (Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud). Sync runs through your own private iCloud database — no Budgeture server is involved. If sync seems stuck, make sure the device is online and signed into the same iCloud account on every device.

Where is my data stored?

All data lives locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. With iCloud enabled, it also syncs through your personal iCloud account (CloudKit). Nothing is sent to a Budgeture server — there is no Budgeture server.

How do I enable Live Prices for stocks and crypto?

Settings → Live Prices. When on, Budgeture sends only the ticker symbol to Yahoo Finance to fetch current prices. No personal identifier, account info, or balances are sent. The feature is off by default.

How do I attach a receipt to a transaction?

Open a transaction and tap "Take Photo" or "Scan Document." Photos are stored locally and, if iCloud is enabled, sync privately through your own iCloud — never through us.

How do I lock the app with Face ID?

Settings → App Lock. When on, Face ID (or Touch ID) is required to open the app. Apple handles the biometric check; Budgeture never sees your biometric data.

How do I use Budgeture with Claude Desktop (Mac)?

The Mac build (15+) includes an optional Model Context Protocol (MCP) server so Claude Desktop can read or modify your Budgeture data when you ask it to. Both Read tools and Write tools are off by default. Enable them in Settings → Mac → Claude Desktop. Write tools show a confirmation sheet inside Budgeture before any change is applied. See the privacy policy for details on what is and isn't sent.

Why don't you connect to my bank?

On purpose. Budgeture has no bank integrations, no aggregator SDKs, and no third-party data connections. The tradeoff is manual entry; the benefit is that your credentials and balances never touch anyone else's servers.
